Seventh Pitch and Mix Masterclass

14.03.2011

Hosted by Mauro Ciaccio and Stew McTavish

From 6pm for 6:30pm to 8pm Monday 21st March 2011

Pitch and MixThis seventh evening MasterClass has been organised to present two of the winning teams that came out out of the Cambridge StartupWeekend.

Over 90 delegates attended the start up weekend and 45 ideas were pitched, of which 17 went forward to be worked on over the 54 hours. Such was the standard that six teams were short-listed and an additional prize (for Social Enterprise was added by the judging panel).

The winners who will be presenting at Monday's masterclass are

  • The overall winner: Lessonista an online application that allows English literature teachers to share resources with their colleagues across the country simply and easily.
  • The Social Enterprise Winner: Belongingsfinder.org. A humanitarian app created in response to the Japanese earthquake, it aims to re-unite victims with their cherished possessions. Finders simply photograph and upload items that they find into a searchable database. In Japan handing in lost property is central to life and culture (in one year over $21m in cash is handed into Tokyo lost property offices) and this app (in Japanese and English) aims to help by putting the process online.
